Varied and reliable: here is the Krone round baler range

Collinear or plain and of industrial or family sizes, Italian farms represent one of the most diversified agricultural and zootechnical production landscapes in Europe. In addition to this entrepreneurial reality, there are professional subcontractors who, by their very mission, are compelled to meet the most diverse requests from clients. In fact, it is a true productive universe with highly varied haymaking needs that can only be met through specialized equipment with diverse technological, performance, and operational characteristics.

Krone round baler: the top is the “Varipack” series

Confirming this diverse offering is Krone’s advanced range of round balers, with a total of 28 different models organized into four families, with the flagship machines being the “Varipack” series, featuring variable chambers, and the “Comprima” series, with fixed, semi-variable, and variable chambers. Both series are also available in “Plus” versions and complement the established “Fortima” series, available in fixed or variable chamber versions, and “Bellima” series, which are fixed chamber equipment. Whether working with straw or hay or other types of crops, the four Krone families always offer the solution that best suits the specific needs of each farm without compromising the reliability and functionality that have always characterized Krone constructions.

In detail, it can be said that the “Bellima” round balers are agile and simple to operate, featuring attachment without cutting devices and operating through pickups with widths ranging from one meter and 40 centimeters to one meter and 80 centimeters, depending on whether dealing with the “F 125” model or the “F 130” model. Both models use four rows of teeth and a lower roller that facilitates entry into the pressing chamber, structured to produce bales with a width and diameter of 120 centimeters, operating through a solid bar chain that ensures maximum pressing density even with short and wet products.

The “Fortima” series is more diversified, equipped with “EasyFlow” pick-ups, independent of cams, and available in two fixed chamber models, “F 1250 Mc” and “F 1600 Mc,” and three variable chamber models, “V 1500”, “V 1500 Mc,” and “V 1800 Mc”.

The “Mc” designation indicates the presence of “MultiCut” cutting rotors with 17 knives, a feature that diversifies the machines along with the bale sizes ranging in diameter from one meter and 25 centimeters to one meter and 55 centimeters in the two fixed chamber models and from one meter to one meter and a half in the “V 1500 Mc” variable chamber model. This value then increases to one meter and 80 centimeters in the “V 1800 Mc” model.

Krone round baler dedicated to subcontracting

Following a hypothetical scale leading to the top-of-the-line machines are the “Comprima” and “Comprima Plus” series round balers, developed primarily for subcontracting. The former is available in seven models, two fixed chamber, three semi-variable chamber, and two variable chamber, all equipped with “EasyFlow” pick-ups with a width of two meters and 15 centimeters and double “W” teeth with a diameter of six millimeters. The rotors have a diameter of 530 millimeters, serving both transport and cutting functions, recognizable by the “Xc” designation identifying the “XCut” rotor, available with 17 or 26 knives.

While the fixed chamber models have a bale diameter of 125 centimeters, in the case of “V 150 Xc” and “V 180 Xc” Comprima models, the diameter can be set from a minimum of one meter to a maximum of one meter and a half or one meter and 80 centimeters, with the smaller size preferred for silage harvested while still green and the larger sizes for hay and straw. The same bale diameter ranges but with the maximum set at one meter and a half are also offered by the three semi-variable chamber models and the “Comprima Plus” series, characterized by similar technical features but with reinforced components suitable for use in extreme conditions. It should be noted that all “Comprima” models can be equipped with a baler activated by the weight of the bale once the tying is finished.

This component comes with a binding table with large side guide rollers and a deep support basin that ensures both bale retention during binding and subsequent rapid yet gentle transfer in the field. In anticipation of potential use on hilly terrain and thus the need to ensure maximum stability for the machine, Krone has equipped its “Comprima” series with tandem “Boogie” axles integrating self-steering wheels and leaf spring suspensions, features that also enhance maneuverability when performing end-of-field maneuvers. At the top of the range are the “Varipack” and “Varipack Plus” series, with variable chambers capable of collecting even particularly hard and dry products.

Diameters up to 190 centimeters

Borrowing pickups and rotors from the “Comprima” series, they operate through four belts with a width of 275 millimeters, allowing for bales with a minimum diameter of 80 centimeters and a maximum of 165 or 190 centimeters depending on the selected model. “V 165 Xc” and “V 190 Xc” are the identification labels for the machines, also available in “Plus” versions, operating within the compression chamber at a rotation speed of 130 meters per minute compared to the base version’s 110. In both cases, the bale diameter is adjustable in one-centimeter increments via the cabin terminal, and the unloading of the bale is very quick, completing the operation in just five seconds.

Krone round baler: flexible binding

If the available round balers are not equipped with balers, it is still possible to wrap them with plastic film later. For this purpose, the “EasyWrap 150” and “EasyWrap 165 T” wrappers are proposed. The first is a single-arm mounted type and can also be combined with the front loader, but can also operate attached to a front loader or a telescopic lifter. The second is a towed double-arm type and can wrap bales with a diameter ranging from one meter to one meter and 65 centimeters for a maximum weight of 1650 kilograms. Operationally, the double arm orbits around the bale at speeds of up to 40 revolutions per minute, four more than the “EasyWrap 150” model, ensuring coverage with optimal overlap percentages to the benefit of productivity and plastic film savings.
